Five Volunteer Opportunities for Teens in Denver this Summer

What’s with kids today? Are they as self-absorbed as pundits suggest? Or are teens taking advantage of volunteer opportunities while no one is watching.

More like the latter.  According to the Millennial Impact Report, today’s teens and young adults are involved, engaged and committed.  84% made a charitable donation in 2014, the year of the study, and 70% spent at least an hour volunteering for a cause that they care about. They give their time and their talents in all kinds of surprising and creative ways, and go out of their way to support the causes they’re passionate about.

So, if you’re a teen looking to volunteer, now’s the time! • What they do: Provide free school clothing to preschool-12th grade students from low-income or in-crisis families.

• What they do: Offer services to the elderly to help maintain their living conditions.
• How you can help: Yard work, light cleaning, handy help, friendly visits, technology help, and help organize local community events and outreach.

• What they do: Provide food for the hungry.
• How you can help: Help distribute, prepare, and sort food; help with office work.

4. Denver Parks and Recreation

• What they do: Provide the community with services and programs throughout Denver’s park system.

• What they do: Offer services to single women and homeless mothers with children.
