Alley’s House was formed in February 1997 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation on the heels of the Welfare Reform Act of 1996, to provide comprehensive services to teen mothers. Kirsten Brandt James, Executive Director, took the helm in 2015 to guide the organization with a focus on organizational stability, program growth, and transformative learning. We know that when we empower teen mothers to achieve independence that they experience higher educational attainment, reduced dependency on government services, increased earning potential, reduced likelihood of repeat teen births, and higher self-esteem and self-worth. Alley’s House provides a nurturing, stable environment to help teen mothers overcome obstacles and become thriving women through counseling, innovative learning, and workforce development.
